WHERE SHOULD YOU START WEARING YOUR BELT LEFT OR RIGHT?

WHERE SHOULD YOU START WEARING YOUR BELT LEFT OR RIGHT?It is always reassuring to find that there are even more obsessive geeks out there than me. I confess to never having thought about this issue. But the idea that there might be a wrong way to do up your belt makes me quite giddy. So I have been poring over fashion photographs and found that there does not seem to be a standard: As with many things, some guys go left, some guys go right. I myself thread counterclockwise (that is, the non-buckle end of the belt finishes by pointing left) and I am right-handed.
Then I did an exhaustive scientific survey of fashionable men and found that, indeed, counterclockwise is the most common direction among the right-handed. So yes, the left-over-right principle is violated. And interestingly, right-handed women seem to thread their belts in the same way, breaking the principle that women's and men's clothes should be directionally distinguished (as with buttons). The one left-handed man in my survey went clockwise.
But it is worth noting that all buckles, even the ones that have some non-standard form of closure, such as the simple stud-in-hole that backs the more ostentatious metal symbols, can be presented facing either way and even turned upside down and lose no function. So you should lose no sleep over this: Any way is fine. And your jacket is going to be closed most of the time anyway, right?

LADIES DON THE BELT THE RIGHT WAY.

HOW TO DON A BELT WELL AS A LADY.

The belted waist has helped women make a fashion statement for what seems like forever. (Hint: Ever since the super-tight corset era!) When worn the right way, it can create a sexy, hourglass shape and really help your outfit pop.
Here's the thing: a belt isn't always a necessary accessory. You don't want to have one there just for the heck of it!  Here's how to keep the look on-trend:
The belted waist is totally versatile. You can wear it with a plain, button down, a cardigan, layered tees, and more. In fact, most materials work well with a belt, but there are some knits that are just too bulky. A quick glance in the mirror can save you from a fashion flop.
You should never wear a belt with a wrap dress. This defeats the purpose. Instead, try an elongated necklace for a well-proportioned look.
Does your body 'shape' to a belt around the waist? Be honest. If you’re generously beautiful in the mid-section, the last thing you want to do is put a belt over it. Add a chic, layered necklace, or some great earrings instead.
Does your belt add or subtract from the overall theme of your outfit? Here's an example: You're wearing a sheer shirt with an open cardigan, skinny jeans, hot boots, a unity scarf, and detailed earrings. Do you really need a belt around your waist? In this case, it's too much. Stash it for another day.
If you do decide to don a belt, make sure it hits at the right place. Imagine placing a corset over your clothes. Now cinch it. That's where your belt should be wrapped.
Thick belt, or thin belt? Well, that's up to you! See what matches your frame and personality the best. Variety is the order of the day!

WHY SOME BELTS ARE MORE EXPENSIVE THAN OTHERS.

A Gucci belt.

Seriously, have you ever wondered why some belts are expensive than others? On so many occasions i have thought about it and most times i find it extremely hard to understand why people spend so much on ''just''belts.Speaking to  a friend who really fancies belts he tells me the brand of the belt determines how expensive or cheap the belt will be.What this means is that if your belt was manufactured by a brand like Gucci a fashion ''powerhouse''the probability of the belt been sold for a big price is high but then if it is manufactured by a  lesser known brand then it is cheaper.Above are some different brands of belts ranging from animal leather to rubber and gucci..

BRIEF NOTES ON BELTS.

Why do men continue to wear belts? Do belts help to keep pants from falling down? Women have pants that don't have belt loops but their hips can keep the pants from falling down.On this blog I look at why people wear belts and why others spend so much on them.
BRIEF HISTORY ON BELTS
Belts have been documented for male clothing since the Bronze Age. Both genders used them off and on, depending on the current fashion. In the western world, belts were more common for men, with the exception of the early Middle Ages, late 17th century Mantua, and skirt/blouse combinations between 1900 and 1910. Art Nouveau belt buckles are now collector's items.
In the period of the latter-half of the 19th century and up until the first World War, the belt was a decorative as well as utilitarian part of the uniform, particularly among officers. In the armed forces of Prussia, Tsarist Russia, and other Eastern European nations, it was common for officers to wear extremely tight, wide belts around the waist, on the outside of the uniform, both to support a saber as well as for aesthetic reasons. These tightly cinched belts served to draw in the waist and give the wearer a trim physique, emphasizing wide shoulders and a pouting chest. Often the belt served only to emphasize waist made small by a corset worn under the uniform, a practice which was common especially during the Crimean Wars and was often noted by soldiers from the Western front. Political cartoonists of the day often portrayed the tight waist-cinching of soldiers to comedic effect, and some cartoons survive showing officers being corseted by their inferiors, a practice which surely was uncomfortable but deemed to be necessary and imposing.
In modern times, men started wearing belts in the 1920s, as trouser waists fell to a lower line. Before the 1920s, belts served mostly a decorative purpose, and were associated with the military. Today it is common for men to wear a belt with their trousers.
Since the mid-1990s, the practice of sagging, which has roots tracing to prison gangs and the prohibition of belts in prison (due to their use as weapons and devices for suicide), has been practiced at times among young men and boys

Variants

  • One specialized type of belt is the utility belt or Police duty belt, which includes pockets for carrying items that the wearer needs for prompt use and loops to hang larger items. Police officers, soldiers, and repair personnel are ty
pical roles which use this kind of belt. Duty belts are generally wider than dress belts, and are stiffer to better provide for the carry of heavy items such as pistols. It is common military practice for such a belt to be a symbol of authority or that one is 'on duty.' Such belts are worn even if no equipment is carried on them. A notable fictional example is Batman's utility belt.
  • The obi is traditionally part of a Japanese kimono.
  • A common sight in fantasy and role playing characters is the excessive use of belts in all different sizes on one's person. Usually they are used either for securing clothing and armor, but others just have several belts around the arms, legs, neck, waist, hips, and across the breasts for decoration. Sometimes they are used in place of eye patches or to decorate weapons. This was also common in superhero costume design of the early 1990s.[dubiousdiscuss]
  • A studded belt is typically made of leather or similar materials, and is decorated with metal studs. Studded belts are often a part of punk/emo scene, skater, Goth and metal fashion.
  • Instead of wearing a conventional belt, Skateboarders often wear shoelaces in belt loops to hold their pants up. This is done mostly for fashion, but it is also useful because belt buckles often dig into a skater's stomach when skating. Since shoelaces don't require belt buckles, this digging is avoided. Another reason this is done is to avoid the excessive pain belts can cause if a Skateboarder should fall.
  • They are also used in judo, karate and other martial arts, where different colors may indicate rank or skill.
  • A breast belt is a belt worn by women that holds their breasts up, making them appear larger or more prominent underneath clothing. It is worn generally above or on the stomach but just beneath the breasts.
  • The leg belt is another fashionable article of clothing which, as the name suggests, one wears upon the leg
